An EB-5 visa allows foreign nationals (and their spouse and children) to gain a U.S. green card when they make a qualifying investment into a new or existing U.S. business venture that creates at least 10 U.S. jobs. Because the EB-5 visa is an immigrant (permanent) visa, the capital requirements are much higher than for the E-2 visa, another investment immigration program. A recent update has lowered those requirements, which is breaking news that could be highly beneficial for you and your family!
For the past two years, the U.S. government had raised the minimum EB-5 investment amount to between $900,000 and $1.8 million, with the lower amount only applicable when investing in “targeted economic areas” (rural or high-unemployment areas). However, in June of 2021, a federal judge ruled that the raised amounts were not properly signed off upon, which means that the limits are currently decreased to $500,000 and $1 million.
